Teamspeak 3 vs. Ventrilo

Postby TParis » Thu 8. Jul 2010, 14:01

So, I gotta say: I LOVE Teamspeak 3. Ventrilo might be better than the old Teamspeak 2, which lacked good codecs and had a lot of security holes (as it didnt receive any updates the past years).

But now there is Teamspeak 3 which still is in a beta but works like a charm. It has the far, far superior and overall better interface, is faster and has highly configureable codec settings, which allows us to have less delay while talking even with low quality connections.

I say: get rid of rusty Vent, get a TS3 into action. :baeh:

In General outside of Gemany Windows Live seems to be more popular than ICQ.
Same thing with Ventrilo vs Teamspeak.

So if we would change to Teamspeak, we would have people aksing for Ventrilo for sure.

ATM Ventrilo is paid for the next months, but its certainly something we can keep an eye on.

a few times a friend couldnt hear us for the whole time, when he closed vent he get everything we spoke in 10 sek.
jeah and that was allways when he was in ventrilo and ingame too
and we had some other probs :)
ts3 is again more handy

That delay you decribe happens when somebody has no sufficient upload bandwith.
The game adds extra bandwith demand and then delays happens.

I had the same issue with DSL 1000, now that i have DSL 6000 for more than a year everythings fine.

That's why we have low bandwith channels Speex 16 and Speex 32.

Ventrilo is good at the moment.

In my opinion there is no need for TS3 :P
